Pre- Anesthetic Instructions- ORAL/IV sedation
For the safe treatment of the patient, these instructions must be followed very carefully.
Food and Beverages:
• It is essential that the stomach be empty at the time of the anesthetic appointment.
• Do not eat any foods 8 hours before the anesthetic appointment.
• Do not drink anything, even water, for at least 8 hours before the anesthetic appointment.
• Do not drink any alcohol/cannabis/THC 24 hours before the anesthetic appointment.
• FAILURE TO FOLLOW ANY OF THE ABOVE WILL RESULT IN CANCELLATION OF YOUR APPOINTMENT AND YOU WILL BE CHARGED A $50 CANCELATION FEE
Medications:
• Regular Medication should be taken prior to your appointment, and in this case only a small sip of water is permitted.
• You may take 2-3 tablets (600mg) of regular strength Ibuprofen(Advil)with a very small sip of water 30-60 minutes before the procedure (Only if directed by Dr. Lotay or your Physician). This will reduce your discomfort after the procedure.
• Take antibiotics as prescribed (6 pills total)
Clothing:
• Wear loose comfortable clothing such as a short sleeve T-Shirt and Sweat pants.
• Do not wear jewelry, hairpins, or make-up.
• Remove contact lenses before your appointment.
Smoking:
• Do not smoke for 2 hours before your appointment.
Transportation:
• Under no circumstances can you drive yourself home. A responsible adult must pick you up after the appointment and accompany you home.
• Public transportation is not recommended.
Change in Health Status:
• If your general health deteriorates (e.g. Cold, cough, fever etc.), contact our office 48 hours before the appointment. If in doubt, please phone our office to discuss it with us.
