Some cases can be carried out in a hospital setting
For select patients, carrying out procedures in a private office setting can be impossible or unsafe. To facilitate treatment for these patients, we can arrange for surgery under general anaesthesia in a hospital setting. After initial consultation, if the patient is a suitable candidate, our office will co-ordinate a surgical date at Burnaby Hospital. During the initial consultation, all necessary paperwork will be completed to allow this to happen. Occasionally, additional testing may be required. Some examples of this would be obtaining blood samples, electrocardiograms, chest x-rays and sleep apnea testing. All of these tests would be completed prior to the assignment of a surgical date and to comply with anaesthesia requirements. Most procedures are 'day surgery' cases, where patients can be discharged home under the care of a responsible adult. For these patients, MSP will typically cover the cost of surgery.
